Hi everybody. I hope that you're all having an easy time adjusting. I'm starting to feel idle myself. I had hope this last week with an interview for a feature. I knew it was going to be low budget and probably not the best script out there. But, I was excited nonetheless about working and earning some money (plus getting that first feature under my belt). But, it turns out that those are the only pros and the cons make up a very long list. I guess I thought before that I would shoot anything starting out but now, after being faced with a definite train wreck, I decided that's not true. I don't want to damage my reputation and get into a shady situation with people I don't trust. So, here's to hoping that this door closed so another will open.
I hope you're all doing well.

my turn...

Hi guys. First, thanks to Bianca to getting things started. I definitely miss class and all of you. Maybe not being critiqued on a regular basis is making me feel antsy.

After school, thanks to Bianca, I worked on a feature for a week. It's an indy project with a Chapman alum director (who clearly shows the characteristics of a Chapman-trained director) and an all-female crew. Let's say that below the line, there were some great people. The experience made me happy to be making a buck but makes me long for union-like conditions. Nonetheless, it was nice to be busy.

Then, I went home for a couple of weeks to Denver. Probably what I heard the most was congratulations on graduating. The next thing everyone said was, how do you find work? Good question. On the way back I took a detour through southern Utah (Canyonlands, Arches, Zion, Bryce, Natural Bridges, etc.). I practiced the art of still photography. Some solitude and beauty on the horizon.

Now I'm back in Orange (no, I'm not moving yet) trying to answer the question "how do you find work?!"

I hope you're all doing well. I wish success for all of us.

first post

Ok. so I started.
This blog is here with the purpose of bringing together us cine peeps who will now not see each other every week, especially on wednesday nights.
You can use this blog to tell us about upcoming projects, ask for crew, just to write if you feel like and etc...
Update us on whats going on with you and what not.
Write about films u saw and think we have to see it too.

Since we grew our cine family we shouldn't end it because school is over.

So, whats going on in Bianca's world...well I pretty much spent last week looking for apartments in LA (Yes, i know Bill you think I should go home, but it's not time yet...) Anyway, it can get frustrating but most likely Ill be moving in to a friend of a friend's apartment in Los Feliz. I spent a whole day copying "Small Avalanches" dpx. files into hardrives. I was told that in July 1st, the school will want to delet all our projects, so I would go and do somethiing about your projects.

I worked as a loader yesterdy on pick ups for this feature called "Lonely Street". We had two cameras and two different stocks so I was running around the whole day and didn't get to see much of what was being shot. (I had a darkroom in the truck which was nice). But then today I am looking up the film on imdb and I realize that Borat's manager was there, yeah the fat guy, I saw him, he was there playing the motel owner. I am really bad at recognizing people, hopefully one day Ill get better.

Ok, enough about me, this is all for now, I hope this blog benefits all of us!
